Rose Geranium is a hairy perennial shrub that grows up to one meter tall with serrated green leaves and bright red flowers. The entire plant is aromatic and it is native to South Africa but now cultivated over many warm climates around the world.

Geraniums are primarily grown in gardens around the world for their ornamental appeal and pleasing scent, however in some regions around the world such as France, Russia, Egypt and China, it is grown for the production of its lovely Essential Oil.

Rose Geranium Essential Oil in Aromatherapy

For hundreds of years Geraniums have been used in herbal medicine. This wonderfully sweet and floral oil can be used to treat dysentery, hemorrhoids, inflammation, metrorrhagia, menorrhagia (menstruation difficulties). In addition, Rose Geranium Essential Oil also has the following characteristics.

Furthermore, with its antimicrobial and wound healing properties, it is also good for acne, dermatitis, eczema, cuts, burns, ulcers, ringworm, and for toning more mature skin.
